THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: To shipshape BJP’s electoral prospects in the impending Lok Sabha elections, PM Narendra Modi has summoned BJP Kerala’s Suresh Gopi to Delhi. Earlier, the BJP leader conducted a protest march in Thrissur condemning the financial frauds committed by CPM leaders in Thrissur. It is reported that Suresh Gopi will meet the Prime Minister on Friday. Suresh Gopi along with his family will depart to Delhi on Thursday.

Suresh Gopi’s scheduled meeting with PM Modi is keenly monitored by state leaders and political analysts in Kerala. Earlier, there were many reports citing indifference between Gopi and the state leadership. Now, with elections just around the corner, the meeting carries weight and there is talk of a revamp in the cards for BJP Kerala.

The protest march (padayatra) conducted by Suresh Gopi was discussed much and saw huge participation from the public in Thrissur. This has sent shivers to the opposition camp as the actor with timely moves has positioned himself as the 1st contender for the Thrissur turf.

If no big changes happen, Thrissur will see Suresh Gopi contesting again in the Lok Sabha elections. Over the years, Thrissur has turned into a quasi-bastion for BJP through grassroots work and initiatives. Financial fraud involving CPM leaders in Thrissur Karuvannur Bank is also expected to boost the prospects of the BJP in Thrissur.

For three years and more, Suresh Gopi has been zeroing in Thrissur as his base. The actor/ politician has been involved in solving all quibbles concerning the district and has made his presence felt. Thousands of people, including women, joined the padayatra braving the incessant rain. Many people who had lost their money at Karuvannur also accompanied the padayatra. The padayatra started by offering floral tributes in front of the pictures of those who lost their lives due to fraud.
