SRINAGAR: A major opened fire on his colleagues injuring six of them in an incident that occurred at an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. Additionally, it is reported that the major threw a grenade at the soldiers.

The incident took place during a shooting training session near Neely Post in Thanamandi the previous day. In an unprovoked attack, the major fired upon fellow soldiers. Subsequently, he sought refuge in the armoury. The officer also deployed a grenade against other soldiers who attempted to intervene and halt his firing spree. Tension gripped the camp for a period of eight hours finally subsiding when the major surrendered. Following security protocols, nearby villagers were evacuated. It has been reported that three of the injured soldiers are in critical condition.
