HWANGCHO: With only three days left for the 2023 Asian Games, India continues its medal hunt. A total of 91 medals have been won thus far, and the country still holds medal hopes in various events. It is believed that reaching 100 medals is possible. Currently, India has 21 gold, 33 silver and 37 bronze medals.
India secured the silver medal in the men's archery recurve team event today. Unfortunately, Fennell lost to South Korea. The silver was earned by the team consisting of Atanu Das, Dheeraj Bommadewara and Tushar Prabhakar Shelke. India's Sonam Malik also won bronze in the women's 61kg freestyle wrestling.
Meanwhile, HS Prannoy achieved bronze in Men's Singles Badminton. In the semi-finals, Prannoy secured the bronze after a straight-game loss (16-21, 9-21) to China's Li Shifeng. The Indian women's team also won bronze in Sepak Takraw.
The Indian men's kabaddi team defeated Pakistan to clinch a medal in the final. The Indian team reached the final with a score of 61-14. Additionally, the men's archery team secured a medal by defeating Bangladesh in the recurve event and advancing to the finals. The Indian women's kabaddi team reached the final by defeating Nepal in the semi-finals. India also reached the final in men's cricket by defeating Bangladesh in the semi-finals.
In the final, Aifah Binti Azman and Syafiq B Deepika of Malaysia defeated Muhammad Kamal alliance and Harinder in 35 minutes. With scores of 11-10, 11-10, the Indian team secured the gold. Despite strong competition from Malaysian stars in the Ndam game, it was Lee who faced the Indian stars. Malaysian stars were trailing 3-9 at one point but made a comeback, scoring seven points and taking a 10-9 lead. However, Patara Deepika and Harinder won the game 11-10, securing the gold.
Deepika delivered an impressive performance in her final Asian Games appearance. Her form is making a comeback. Deepika also won bronze in the women's team event with Rana, adding to her impressive Asian Games career. At 32 years old, Deepika has now won six medals including one gold, silver and bronze medals each, erasing most of Deepika's Asian Games records. She is undoubtedly a star in the world of sports.
