NEW DELHI: The FIR related to the arrest of Prabir Purkayastha, the founder of NewsClick revealed some disquieting details. According to the FIR report, NewsClick tried heinous ways to topple the 2019 elections in India. According to Delhi Police, Gautam Navlakha, a major shareholder of News Click, is in good camaraderie with Ghulam Nabi Fai, an agent of the Pakistani spy agency. These details emerged in the Delhi Police special cell registered FIR against Prabir Purkayastha and other journalists working with NewsClick.

The FIR mentions that NewsClick, along with the People's Alliance for Democracy and Secularism, tried sabotaging the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and also took measures to picture both Arunachal Pradesh and Kashmir as not part of India; thus disrupting the sovereignty of the nation.

Since 2018, NewsClick received billions in funds from foreign entities and countries that shared bitter relations with India. According to the FIR, the American billionaire Neville Roy Singham, a usual contributor to NewsClick, is a member of the propaganda wing of the Chinese Communist Party. The police also alleged that the NewsClick journalists were working with anti-national forces.

Meanwhile, Prabir Purkayastha and HR chief Amit Chakraborty have approached the High Court demanding quashing of the FIR in the UAPA case. Both were arrested in the case of receiving foreign aid for propaganda in favor of China.
