KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has sharply criticized the practice of keeping prisoners in different blocks on a political basis in Kannur Central Jail. A division bench comprising Justice PB Suresh Kumar and Justice PG Ajit Kumar said they do not understand why the jail authorities are doing so. The court also directed that there should be no discrimination and sectarianism among the prisoners.
This was mentioned in the order issued the other day which allowed the appeal filed by the BJP activists against the life sentence in the case of killing CPM worker Ravindran in Kannur Jail in 2004. The convictions of four were quashed in the case which has 9 accused.
