THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF Lok Sabha seat selection after bipartisan discussion with constituent parties. Though unofficially, the Muslim League had staked its claim on the third seat and the Kerala Congress on the Kottayam seat. The bipartisan discussion took place because of this.
In yesterday's UDF meeting, the Congress had informed the constituents that seat determination would not be discussed.
The crisis in the field of cooperation and the strikes including the blockade of the secretariat were mainly discussed. The meeting also demanded that the UDF constituency committees be reconstituted. The meeting also demanded grassroots campaigns and protests against the state government. It was decided to go into the grassroots reorganization of the UDF after the reorganization of the Congress constituency and booth committees.
K Sudhakaran, president of KPCC, explained the protests and campaigns of the Congress as part of the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections. However, UDF convener MM Hassan said in a press conference that he did not hear the League claiming the third seat. Hassan said that the matter was not discussed in the UDF and he heard about it only when media persons told him.
