THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Due to an unexpected drop in the availability of electricity, restrictions were imposed in some places in the state from 6 pm to 11 pm yesterday. If the situation does not improve, it is indicated that load shedding will be required even today. KSEB requested cooperation by controlling power consumption between 6 pm to 11 pm.
A sudden technical problem in the production of the Koodamkulam nuclear power plant reduced the power supply. Yesterday, there was a drop in 266 MW electricity. Hopefully this will be resolved today. A shortfall of 320MW occurred after a penstock at Sabarigiri hydroelectric power station malfunctioned. After solving one of these, the state started getting 110 MW. It is hoped that the production will be normalized by today.
The 130 MW generator had stopped working at the Idukki plant due to annual maintenance. Another 130MW generator was out of action due to the fault. After the maintenance was completed, the generator started working again at 8 pm.
