ALAPPUZHA: Former minister G Sudhakaran said that the Karuvannur bank fraud is not a matter that can be dealt with politically, and action should be taken if the people in charge have done wrong, regardless of the party they belong to. Sudhakaran clarified his stand in an interview with a news channel.
"When senior leaders like M K Kannan are summoned for questioning, the ED has an obligation to convince the society if there is any lapse on their part. It should not create a smokescreen. If the bank authorities have shown mischief, the government can handle the issue under the Co-operative Act. One must notice the fact that in India, ED investigation is taking place only in states where the opposition parties are in power," Sudhakaran said.
Elamaram Commission did not consider the things I said
Sudhakaran said that even after stating all the facts and writing a 34-page affidavit, nothing from it was included in the Elamaram Commission report which investigated the complaint against him. He also said that he would speak about it in the future if he is asked to speak on the matter. It was current MLA H Salam who lodged a complaint with the CPM state leadership alleging that Sudhakaran had shown laxity in campaign works in Ambalapuzha constituency ahead of the previous assembly election.
