PATHANAMTHITTA: Akhil Sajeev, a native of Vallicode, who was arrested in the recruitment scam case, was remanded to police custody for five days. Pathanamthitta police had applied for the custody of Akhil, who was produced in the Pathanamthitta Chief Judicial Magistrate's court yesterday. He is being interrogated at the Pathanamthitta police station. An investigation is going on in two cases registered in Pathanamthitta. He is being interrogated in the case of extorting 3.60 lakhs from the CITU district committee office and in the case of extorting 4.5 lakhs from a person by offering him a job in the Spices Board. As Akhil had returned most of the CITU funds, the organization's leadership was not interested in investigating the case. CITU filed a complaint with the police in July last year. Four months ago, the Pathanamthitta police received a complaint that he had extorted money from a person by offering him a job at the Spices Board. Akhil is being interrogated by the police in these two cases.
Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police will apply to the court to release Akhil in custody when he is produced in court after five days.
