NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader of National People's Party,Wanweiroy Kharlukhi, his wife and daughter are among the many Indians trapped in Israel. As the Israel-Hamas conflict intensifies, there are reports that twenty-four Indian citizens are stuck in both countries.

It is reported that Wanweiroy Kharlukh and his family went to Jerusalem for a pilgrimage and got stuck in Bethlehem due to the conflict. Conrad Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya said that he has contacted the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure that all the stranded Indian citizens, including the MP, can return home safely. It is reported that the MP, his family and other Indians will be transferred to Egypt today.

Also, there were reports that Bollywood actress Nushrat Barucha, who had gone to attend a film festival, was missing. However, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the actress had reached India safely. About 18,000 Indian citizens live in Israel. Most of them have come to the country for various jobs and studies.

Meanwhile, Indian embassies in Israel and Palestine have warned Indian citizens to be cautious. The embassy advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stay in safe places. More than 500 people have been killed so far in the war between Hamas and Israel.
