PILIBHIT: A young man ended his life in humiliation after getting beaten up in front of his wife by the landlord. 30-year-old Rachit Mishra is the deceased. Following the shocking death, the victim’s father filed a complaint and the police have reportedly booked one person involved in the crime.

According to the report, Rachit owed two months' house rent to his landlord Devendra Kumar, which included a total of Rs 4000. With no financial means to complete the payment, Rachit sought some more time with his landlord to clear the arrears. Rachit was working in a private institution in Bareilly but lost his job just two months back. He lived in a rented house in Pilibhit with his five-year-old son and wife.

On Thursday, the landlord came to Rachit’s house as the deadline for paying rent had passed. Loomed in a financial crisis, Rachit was helpless and begged for more time to complete payment. Devendra Kumar then resorted to abuse and slapped Rachit in front of his wife. The police have registered a case against Kumar for abetment to suicide.

The deceased's body has been sent for autopsy. Further investigation is undergoing.
