TEL AVIV: Israel-Hamas conflict is escalating. Israeli military claims to have targeted more than 500 Hamas militants in Gaza overnight according to news reports. Hamas stated it fired 5,000 rockets while the Israeli military reported firing 2,500.

The war began three days ago and it is being widely regarded globally as the most significant conflict since the Russia-Ukraine war. The death toll is also increasing with reports indicating that over 1,100 people including 700 Israelis have lost their lives in the attacks.

More than 1,500 Israelis have been injured. Many people including a military commander are being held hostage by Hamas. This marks the most substantial attack on the country since the 1973 war.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the United States plans to deploy warships and warplanes to assist Israel with military aid also pledged. US citizens have also fallen victim to Hamas attacks.

Thailand has reported the loss of 12 of its citizens in Israel with its foreign ministry confirming that 11 people were kidnapped and eight others sustained injuries during the attacks. The Nepalese embassy has disclosed that approximately 10 Nepalese students lost their lives and one Canadian citizen was killed while two others remain missing.
