THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Haridasan, the complainant in the appointment fraud controversy case, has retracted his statement. He told the Cantonment Police that he does not remember anything. Haridasan now says that he does not remember to whom the money was paid and where the money was given. He appeared before the investigation team Monday morning. The police informed that he will be interrogated in detail. He is likely to be taken to the premises of Secretariat Annex following his first statement that money was paid to someone he met here.

The police had earlier found many inconsistencies in his allegation that he reached Thiruvananthapuram and paid a bribe of Rs one lakh in front of the secretariat. Haridasan later did not cooperate with the investigation and tried to escape from the interrogation. The police received information that Haridasan's friend K P Basith is also involved in the fraud. Basith also failed to appear for the interrogation after summoned.

Haridasan's first statement was that he reached Thiruvananthapuram on April 9 as the appointment for homeo doctor did not happen even after paying an advance amount. Haridasan also said that he met Akhil Mathew, health minister's personal staff, and paid Rs one lakh outside the secretariat the next day. Akhil Sajeev, the main accused in the case, once showed Akhil Mathew's photo to Haridasan. He was not sure whether it was Akhil Mathew who he met in front of the secretariat. Haridasan had earlier said that he had given the money on the belief that it was him.
