PUNE: LPG cylinders exploded and caught fire in buses in Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra. The incident occurred at 10:30 pm last night in the city's Tathawade area. It is reported that more than five cylinders exploded resulting in the burning of college buses parked near the blast site.
According to reports, the explosion may have been caused by the overfilling of LPG cylinders from tankers. Locals say that the timely intervention of the fire brigade prevented a major accident.
Meanwhile, in Athibele, Anekkal taluk of Bengaluru, 13 people were killed in an explosion at a shop selling firecrackers on Saturday. The accident occurred around 3:30 in the afternoon. Four other people including the injured shop owner are undergoing treatment. Most of the deceased were employees of the store. The explosion took place while firecrackers were being unloaded from a vehicle into the store's warehouse.
