NEW DELHI: Election Commission has released assembly election dates for five states. Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar declared the election schedule for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram.

Mizoram will vote on November 7 while Chhattisgarh will have two phases on November 7 and November 17. Rajasthan's election is on November 23, Madhya Pradesh on November 17 and Telangana on November 30. Votes in all states will be counted on December 3.

The Election Commissioner reported that 60 lakh new voters will participate in these states with a total of 16.14 crore voters including 8.24 crore males and 7.88 crore females. Chhattisgarh and Mizoram have more female voters. There are 1.77 lakh polling stations with 1.01 lakh having webcasting.

Elections will be held for 200 seats in BJP-controlled Madhya Pradesh, 200 seats in Congress-controlled Rajasthan, 119 seats in Telangana, 90 seats in Chhattisgarh and 40 seats in Mizoram.

Rajeev Kumar, in a press conference stated that these dates were set after discussions with political parties and law enforcement agencies in the respective states. The Commission's main focus is to ensure transparent and fair elections.
