KOCHI: CPM leader PR Aravindakshan and the bank's former accountant C K Jills who were arrested in the Karuvannur bank fraud case have been remanded to ED's custody for questioning till 4 pm tomorrow. The application filed by the ED asking the accused to be kept in custody for two more days was approved by a special court hearing cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

This is the second time that ED has taken Aravindakshan and Jills for questioning in custodial custody. ED alleged that they did not cooperate with the interrogation in the first stage. ED is preparing to interrogate Aravindakshan again based on the voice messages received from the phone of P Satheesh Kumar, the first accused in the case. The ED also stated that Aravindakshan had deposited money in the Peringandur co-operative bank in the name of his mother. ED alleges that Aravindakshan was the connivance of all the financial transactions of Satheesh Kumar.

It was found that Jills had committed a loan fraud of Rs 5 crores. The ED has clarified that the investigation has revealed that the fraud was done for some others and they are asking Jills in custody for further questioning in this regard. ED believes that more information about the accused will be obtained from the second phase of interrogation.

If there are benami loans ED should name them: MK Kannan

There are no benami loans in Thrissur Service Co-operative Bank, said President M K Kannan. He also stated that if benami loans are there ED should tell who it is.' It is not correct to say that one and half crores of money of P Satheesh Kumar is in Thrissur Co-operative Bank. The money reached the bank only through bank transfers. How can the bank provide details of a non-existent benami loan?ED could get all the required information in the investigation. If they want more documents, they should write to the bank. What is the point of asking me? It is not right to say that I am not collaborating with the investigation. They can prosecute me and put me behind bars if I am not collaborating with the investigation, said MK Kannan.
