KOZHIKODE: Dr P Priyalakshmi Prakash who runs a clinic in Nadakkavu stormed into the state boxing championships. After studying homoeopathy, she accidentally entered the world of boxing when she went to exercise at the Mettle Fitness Academy near Civil Station to lose weight in 2019.'One day I just happened to glance at the punching bag hanging in the fitness center. I hit it and the bag came back and hit me on the head. It made me think. The fitness centre is run by Rajesh Raj, a national medalist in boxing. That was the day Priyalakshmi Prakash entered the ring.
In 2021, she won the first match for the district followed by two state competitions. Even though he won silver in both competitions, she found out what boxing is. Later on, she started training hard in the morning and night.
The goal is a national title
Rajesh says that Priya was a solid boxer when she entered the state meet at Attingal this year. She won the gold medal as the state champion by knocking down three boxers. Now the 28-year-old has only one goal - the national title. Even though she is busy eyeing the national meet, she also finds time for her family's pride homeo treatment. She is the granddaughter of Dr KS Prakash, the founding principal of Kozhikode Homeo Medical College. Her father S Prakash and mother Reena Prakash and two brothers are also homoeopathic doctors.
