THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 125.397 grams of MDMA was seized in the city last night and early this morning and four people were arrested. Thiruvananthapuram Excise Anti-Narcotics Special Squad conducted a special inspection in different parts of the city from 7 pm to 2 am and a major drug racket was caught.


109.5 grams of MDMA was seized from Sreejith, 31, a native of Pangode and Rahul, 29, a native of Vettikonam, at an ice cream parlor in Shasthamangalam. Sreejith's brother arrested by the excise last month for possession of MDMA is in jail now. In subsequent tests, 29-year-old Vishnu from Pravachambalam area was caught with 15.43 grams of MDMA and 28-year-old Mohammad Adil from Peringamala area with 0.467 grams of MDMA. Two bikes and a scooter used by the accused to smuggle MDMA were taken into excise custody.


A shadow team led by excise circle inspector B L Shibu caught this gang who bought large quantities of narcotics from Bangalore and traded them to young men and women. It has been decided to strengthen the night inspection in the coming days.

Along with El Shibu, excise inspector R Ratheesh, preventive officer Santhosh Kumar, civil excise officers Suresh Babu, Prabodh, Akshay Suresh, Nandakumar, Aromal Rajan, Krishna Prasad and driver Anil Kumar were present.
