NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) HAS conducted raids in six states including Delhi in connection with the Popular Front. NIA raids are in progress in various parts of states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. It is reported that the raid which started at dawn today is still going on.
The raid is in progress at all three places in Delhi. A team of officials have also reached the house of Abdul Wahid Sheikh in the Vikhroli area of Mumbai for inspection. Sheikh is an acquitted accused in the Mumbai train blast case. NIA sources informed that the search is related to Popular Front and the search is being conducted in places including Shaheen Bagh. Inspection is being done at 10 places in Tamil Nadu. Inspections are being conducted at various places in Madurai, Chennai, Theni and Dindigul districts.
There are also reports that the NIA is conducting raids in many places in Maharashtra. Raids were conducted in Thrissur, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Wayanad last month. The ED had also raided the houses of former Popular Front leaders in the districts.
