NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India has revised the date for Rajasthan assembly elections. Voting will be held on November 25 instead of November 23. However, there is no change in the date of counting of votes. The counting will take place on December 3.

November 23 in Rajasthan coincides with Dev Uthani Ekadashi, an auspicious occasion when more than 50,000 weddings are likely to take place in the state. Various political parties and social organizations had earlier demanded that the date of polling be changed as voter participation is likely to be less on this day. The commission informed that the decision was taken considering this demand.

The gazette notification will be issued is October 30. Nominations can be submitted till November 6. The scrutiny of nominations will take place till November 7. Nominations can be withdrawn within November 9. Voting will be held on November 25. The counting of votes will take place on December 3. The results will be announced on December 5.
