NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday registered a case against NewsClick and its editor Prabir Purkayastha on the allegations of Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act violations. The CBI officials also carried out raids at the residence and office of Prabir Purkayastha in Delhi.
The CBI is probing allegations of irregularities in NewsClick's receipt of Rs 28.46 crore in foreign funds. Purkayastha and the HR head of the company, who were arrested under the UAPA charges for spreading anti-national news after receiving Chinese funds, are in the custody of the Delhi Police Special Cell. The ED is also conducting a probe against NewsClick in connection with money laundering.
