KELPETTA: Police and Thunderbolt continue to search the forest area to catch the Maoist group that attacked the office of Kerala Forest Development Corporation in Kambamala. The search, which is being carried out using helicopters and drones, has been going on for two days. The search is in forests, hilly areas and plantations. The search is conducted after a special meeting every morning. In the evening, a meeting is held again to evaluate the progress of the search.
In the wake of the Maoist threat, security has been increased at five police stations in the district. Security has been beefed up at Thirunelly, Thalappuzha, Thondernad, Padinjarathara and Vellamunda police stations. Security has also been increased at some police stations in Kannur district. Within a week, the Maoists had attacked the estate office of KFDC in Kambamala and destroyed the police CCTV camera. Apart from this, the armed group went to houses and left after taking goods. Police are conducting a special investigation to catch the Maoist group in this situation. Kannur and Wayanad police are jointly searching the Kambamala forest area. Apart from this, there are vehicle checks at the borders in collaboration with other state police.
