MALAPPURAM: The state general secretary of the Muslim League PMA Salam has indirectly criticized Samasta's president Jifri Muthukkoya regarding the hijab controversy. This has worsened the divide between the two organizations. The Muslim League argues that it's the pro-CPM leaders within Samasta who are making the situation controversial. All leaders have expressed their disagreement with this.
Previously, there was a disagreement between these two organizations over the government's decision to entrust the appointment of the Wakf Board to the PSC. PMA Salam mentioned that there are people who believe that a phone call from the Chief Minister can resolve everything. Samasta had hoped that the League's state president, Panakkad Sadiq Ali would step in and clarify Salam's statement.
However, Sadiq Ali has responded that Salam did not make a false statement. He has also criticized the protests of various organizations. This has angered many leaders.
In response to this, Samasta Centres clarified that the earlier letter of complaint against Salam was signed by a Samasta Mushavara member and the SYS General Secretary. These people represent their group. PMA Salam responded by stating that some people who have affiliations with the CPM are using their positions within Samasta to criticize the League. Meanwhile, Samasta has alleged that Sadiq Ali Thangal supports these remarks.
The Muslim League is attempting to exert pressure on Samasta by suggesting there is a division within Samasta especially regarding the hijab controversy. Criticism has arisen within Samasta for not responding adequately to the hijab issue. The source of the dispute isn't the League's stance. The CPM plays a role in creating divisions within Samasta which has historically been aligned with the League. The League's leadership has warned that if a firm stance isn't taken against those causing divisions, the situation may escalate.
