KOCHI: The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the appointment of five district judges as judges of the Kerala High Court. The recommended judges are MB Snehalatha, Johnson John, G Girish, C Pradeep Kumar and P Krishnakumar.
MB Snehalatha
Became a lawyer in 1988 and started as a Munsiff in 1995. She became a District Judge in 2014. Her husband is KK Shaji, a lawyer in Thrissur and they have a son named Alan Krishna.
Johnson John
Joined the service as a Munsiff-Magistrate in 1995 and has served in various capacities. His wife is Eliamma Kuruvila, a former professor at Ranney St. Thomas College. They have two children, John Johnson and Joel Johnson both residing in Canada.
G Girish
Became a lawyer in 1990 and entered service as a Mavelikkara Munsiff. He has held various positions including Principal District Judge of Thalassery in 2022. Married to B I Deepti, a teacher at Ernakulam Greets Public School and they have two children, Bhagwat Girish and Parvathi Pratyusha.
C Pradeep Kumar
Entered service as a Judicial First-Class Magistrate in 1997 and has worked in several places including Ernakulam, Nedumangad and Kollam. He was also the Secretary of the Thiruvananthapuram District Legal Service Authority. Married to Shirley, a teacher at Kanjiramkulam PKSHS and have two children, Adv Abhijit and Abhinand.
P Krishnakumar
He was a lawyer in Alappuzha District Court and High Court before becoming a District Judge. He was selected as the first rank in District Judge appointment directly from the advocates in 2012. He has served as the Principal District Judge in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts. He was also a judge in NIA and CBI courts in Ernakulam. He was the Chairman of the Administrative Committee of Padmanabhaswami temple. He is married to Shalini, and they have three children, Akash, Niranjan and Neelanjana.
These recommendations were made by the collegium consisting of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sanjeev Khanna.
