THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala will witness heavy downpours in the coming five days, predicted IMD. A yellow alert warning has been announced in six districts today. Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts are included in the list and have been warned of strong rains. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain at isolated places in all the districts in the next three hours along with strong winds that will billow at a speed of up to 40 kmph.
Meanwhile, the shutters of Peppara Dam have been raised to 80 cm from the present 40 cm and the shutters of Aruvikkara Dam have been raised to 170 cm from the present 110 cm. The District Collector informed that the residents should be cautious.
On Friday, Thiruvananthapuram is placed on yellow alert along with Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki.
On Monday, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts are placed on yellow alert. IMD has also presaged thunderstorms and lightning in the coming hours.
