THRISSUR: On Thursday, Excise nabbed a youngster who carted highly lethal 'A-class' cannabis to Kerala. Muhammed Fazil was caught from a lodge in Mannuthy. Hybrid cannabis weighing 2.14 kg was seized from Fazil. The hybrid variety commonly being sold as “Fabulozo” fetches around Rs 3,000 per gram in the international market.
The suspect was arrested from the lodge following a tip-off received by the Palakkad Excise department. Thrissur Special Squad Inspector and the Thrissur and Palakkad IBs conducted a joint operation to nab the culprit. According to the report, Fazil got the rare cannabis from Thailand and he confessed to evading customs and security in Nedumabssery airport to bring these drugs home.
The accomplices of the accused, who were in front of the lodge, ran away to see the officials. The car used by the gang was taken into custody. The excise department is stunned as it is the first time that such lethal cannabis is being seized in Kerala. They also admitted to the “Fabulozo” being akin to synthetic drugs that have now gone rampant in the state. According to officials, Fazil is just a carrier, and there are big fishes still lurking behind the cartel.
