KANNUR: Two people were charred to death in Kannur in a ghastly accident late Friday night. An auto-rickshaw turned turtle after colliding with a bus at 6th Mile, Maithanapalli in Kannur. After the hit, the autorickshaw quickly caught fire and went aflame killing the driver and the passenger. It was a CNG auto rickshaw that caught fire in the accident.
The incident happened exactly at 8:30 pm on Friday night near Thalassery-Kuthuparamba road. Panoor native Abhilash and Shijin who were in the auotrickshaw were burned to death in the most terrifying way. Abhilash was the driver while Shijin was in the backseat of the vehicle.
A private bus named ‘M 4 Six’ that was heading towards Iritty from Thalassery collided with the rickshaw and made the smaller vehicle flip on the road. The impact of the collision was so terrific that even the people in nearby shops ran out in fear. The fireforce unit for Kuthuparamba doused the fire and took out the charred remains of the two people. The mortal remains have been shifted to the general hospital.
