THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Akhil Sajeev, the first accused in the conspiracy case against the health minister's office, will be brought to Malappuram to collect evidence. The investigation team also told the court that it should be probed whether Akhil had interfered to sabotage the case. The JFCM (3) Court in Thiruvananthapuram considered the request of the police and remanded the accused in custody for five days.
The Cantonment Police had on Thursday registered the formal arrest of Akhil, who was arrested in the case of embezzlement of funds from the CITU office. After that the production warrant was issued. The police believe that the conspiracy in the case can be brought to light by interrogating Akhil in detail in custody. More digital evidence also needs to be collected.
The police are planning to bring Akhil to Malappuram for evidence collection today or tomorrow. The police have information that the fraud is centred in Nilambur.
Naufal, a lawyer in Nilambur, filed a complaint alleging that the health minister's PA had taken money. This is on the instructions of Basith, who was arrested in the case.
