MALAPPURAM: A Malayali merchant navy officer has been reported missing while on a cruise. Manesh Keshavdas, a native of Malappuram Nilambur, is reportedly missing. The ship company officials informed the family that the incident took place during the voyage from Abu Dhabi to Malaysia.

Manesh Keshavdas, the second officer of the Liberian oil tanker MT Patmos, went missing while on duty. Manesh went missing on Wednesday while he was on his way to Malaysia from Jebel Dhanna in Abu Dhabi. According to the company officials, Manesh went to his room on the ship to rest after finishing his duty at 4 a.m.

Company officials have informed the family that the ship is now anchored at sea and a search is underway. Manesh's family complained to the Ministry of External Affairs and the Coast Guard. Manesh, who came home for vacation, returned to work on August 3.
