These two young women are Nisha, who is an officer of the Communication and Cyber Security Department who is also in charge of the front-line unit, and Riya, who is undergoing commando training. Riya is currently training for a permanent position in the Israeli army. Both of these women are Indian immigrants with Gujarat roots. The story of their Indian connection has already attained news headlines on the internet.
Nisha's father Jeevabai Muliasia and Riyas's father Savdas Bhai Muliasia hail from Kotadi village in Gujarat. They immigrated to Israel years ago. The family later obtained Israeli citizenship. Jeevabai runs a shop in Tel Aviv. Jeevabhai said that her daughter Nisha has been working as part of the Israeli forces for the past two years on the borders of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt.
Some media reported that former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and his wife visited Jeevabai's house when they visited Tel Aviv last time. However, reports point out that Nisha and Riya are not working as part of the ongoing Hamas-Israeli war.
In Israel, anyone over the age of 18 is required to perform compulsory military service. The duration of compulsory military service is two years and eight months for men and two years for women.
