On the 10th of this month, Jineesh reached under the high-max light at Adimali Central Junction with petrol in his hand and he poured it all over him before setting fire. The locals rushed to the spot and tried throwing sand and made attempts to douse the fire using wet sacks. When the fire was brought down, it was too late as Jineesh suffered serious burns and most of his skin was gone. He was then admitted to Adimali Taluk Hospital and after initial treatment was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

Jineesh lived with his mother and brother. His brother is also a bachelor. Jineesh was long despondent about his stalled marriage and has opened up about this to his friends on several occasions.
