THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The rain will turn fiercer in the coming hours, predicted the Indian metrological department. Kerala has been receiving incessant rains for quite some days and now, IMD has predicted that the rain will stay for an extended time beyond October 17.
A cyclone forming over South East Arabian Sea and Central East Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours is likely to intensify into a low pressure by October 17. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, it is likely to move towards a west-northwest direction and gain strength again in the next 48 hours.
Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in Kerala for the next five days. Also, from October 14 to 18, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places and an accompanying wind at a speed of 30-40 km per hour, the Meteorological Department said.
