THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the state is likely to receive heavy rain for the next five days. As per the latest notification issued by IMD, Kerala is likely to receive moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning for the next five days. The IMD also stated that isolated places in the state will receive heavy rain from today till October 18.
A low-pressure area is likely in the Arabian Sea as a cyclonic circulation prevails over South Tamil Nadu. The cyclonic circulation forming over the Southeast Arabian Sea and Central East Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours will intensify into a low pressure by October 17. It is likely to move west-northwestward and regain strength in the next 48 hours, the notification said. Rain is expected as a result of this.
According to IMD, isolated places in all the districts of Kerala are likely to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning during the next 3 hours.
