CHERTHALA: SNDP yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan said that a caste census should be conducted and on the basis of this, participation in the governance should be ensured for the backward sections proportionally to the population. He was talking to journalists at his residence in Kanichukulangara.
"What is being done now is political moves by foreseeing the elections. There is no sincerity in the announcement of the caste census. SNDP yogam is not against the caste census. It is not necessary to calculate the numbers and keep the numbers in a box. Participation in governance should be ensured in proportion to the population by calculating the number of people in each community. The position of NSS and the meeting on the issue are not the same. My job is not to speak against NSS. Some people are trying to make us fight against each other. There has been looting in the cooperative sector irrespective of politics. The culprits should be punished in an exemplary manner. It is not right to criticise an entire sector because of this. It is not right for the religious leaders to organize and incite the ranks to fight over the Vizhinjam port. Compromises are necessary for the development of the state," Vellappally said.
Father and son destroyed Transport Department
"KB Ganesh Kumar does not have a clean character. The LDF government will be in trouble if it makes Ganesh a minister. Ganesh and his father had destroyed the Transport department in the past. Now, he is seeking another portfolio to make personal gains. Ganesh had committed massive corruption in the appointment and transfer of employees during his tenure as a minister," Vellappally said.
