THRISSUR: Intelligence have issued a warning that there is a possibility of Maoist attack on the police stations near the forest area in Kerala. The borders of both the states in the forest areas have been put under the surveillance zone of the task force. Eight police stations in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts namely Kurangam, Kuttiyadi, Thandilpalam, Peruvannamoozhi, Kurachund, Thamarassery, Thiruvambadi and Kodanchery have been identified as stations susceptible to Maoist attacks.
It is reported that 32 Maoists from the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka have camped in Kerala. Left-wing extremist organizations and Maoists are planning to attack Thandilpalam and Peruvannamoozhi police stations in Kerala first. Kurangam, Kuttyadi and Koorachund police stations are second and Thamarassery, Thiruvambadi and Kodanchery are third in the list.
250 policemen have been assigned for security. Under the leadership of Vadakara, Thamarashery, and Perampra DySP 24 hours guard has been established in two shifts. A bi-state mission force is also camping in the forest areas of Panthallur bordering Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Wayanad and Malappuram. A medical team from Tamil Nadu is also ready.
