BHOPAL: The Congress party has made a big move against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. Congress fielded television star Vikram Mastal as a candidate against Chauhan in the Budhni constituency. The actor is famous for portraying the character of Hanuman in the popular serial Ramayana which was aired in 2008.
The party has announced the details of candidates in states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. In Madhya Pradesh, former chief minister and PCC president Kamal Nath will contest from Chhindwara assembly constituency. Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh's son Jaivardhan Singh will contest from the Raghogarh seat. He was a minister in the previous Kamal Nath government.
In the released list, 47 candidates are from the General category, 39 from the OBC category, 22 from the SC category, 1 from the Muslim category and 19 women candidates. Notably, 65 candidates are under the age of 50.
Meanwhile, the BJP has announced 136 candidates for 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh. Elections to 230 constituencies will be held on the 17th of next month.
