AHMEDABAD: Rohit Sharma's Indian squad crushed Pakistan by seven wickets in the World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium. After losing the toss and batting first, Pakistan were bowled out for 191 runs in 42.5 overs, while India reached the target with the loss of only three wickets with 117 balls remaining. Meanwhile, behaviour on the part of the Indian fans is drawing criticism.
After being dismissed for 49 runs off 60 balls, Pakistan player Muhammad Rizwan was returning to the dressing room when the fans started chanting Jai Shri Ram. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's son and Youth Welfare and Sports Minister Udayanidhi Stalin, has come forward stating that this behaviour of the fans is unacceptable.
'India is renowned for its sportsmanship and hospitality. However, the treatment meted out to Pakistan players at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is unacceptable and a new low. Sports should be a unifying force between countries, fostering true brotherhood. Using it as a tool is unacceptable', Udayanidhi Stalin wrote on X.

Many social media users accused the fans of their behaviour as absurd. Some fans demanded that the Pakistan team be received with love and respect when they come to Chennai to play their next match. At the same time, many fans have come forward in favour of the Jai Shri Ram chants.
