NEW DELHI: Slight earthquake occurred in national capital region. A slight earthquake was felt at magnitude 3.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was nine kilometers away from Faridabad, Haryana, at a depth of ten kilometers. There are no reports of casualties.

Last August, earthquakes were felt in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. A magnitude of 5.8 was recorded. The epicenter was the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The National Center for Seismology reported that it originated 181 km deep inside the Earth.

A strong earthquake struck Horat in western Afghanistan just after 12 noon Indian time on October 7. It is reported that more than 4000 people have died in the two earthquakes of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale. The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority has informed that around 2000 houses have been completely destroyed.
