ERUMELI: An accused in the case of assaulting his woman neighbour, attacked a female sub inspector. The incident happened in Erumeli. V G Sreedharan (72) of Elivalikkara Keecheril, accused in the case of attacking his neighbour, pulled the hair of Erumeli female sub inspector Shanthi K Babu and then hit her on her back. The incident happened when the police came to execute the warrant issued by the court.

Sreedharan hurled abuses at the SI and her team. The police tried to take him to the station but he refused to go with them and went inside and locked the door.

With this, the police forcefully opened the door and tried to subdue Sreedharan. In the meanwhile, he pulled the SI's hair and hit her on her back. Later, more cops reached the spot and subdued him by force and took him into custody.

There was a similar incident against the police in Kozhikode Thamarassery Ambalamukku Koorimunda. Two members of a drug gang were arrested in the case of pelting stones at the police and assaulting a youth in September.
