TEL AVIV: Two women security personnel of Indian origin were killed in Israel-Hamas conflict. Lieutenant Or Moses and Inspector Kim Dokraker were killed. Lieutenant Or Moses was serving in the Home Front Command and Kim Dockrecker was a Border Officer in the police's Central District.
According to reports, both were killed in a Hamas attack on October 7. Israel authorities indicate that 286 military personnel and 51 policemen have been killed so far. Additionally, Israel claimed that several security people who were not on the list may also have died.
At the same time, earlier reports had surfaced that two young Indian women were working as part of the Israeli forces in the war against Hamas.
Nisha and Riya, both of Gujarati origin, are serving in the Israeli army as mandatory military service is required in Israel. There are no reports of them taking part in the ongoing war. Nisha is an officer in War Communication and Cyber Security Department. Riya is training for a permanent position in the Israeli army.
Nisha's father Jeevabai Muliasia and Riyas's father Savdas Bhai Muliasia hail from Kotadi village in Gujarat. They immigrated to Israel years ago. The family later obtained Israeli citizenship. Jeevabai runs a shop in Tel Aviv. Jeevabhai said that her daughter Nisha has been working as part of the Israeli forces for the past two years on the borders of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Some media reported that former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and his wife visited Jeevabai's house when they visited Tel Aviv last time.
In Israel, anyone over the age of 18 is required to perform compulsory military service. The duration of compulsory military service is two years and eight months for men and two years for women. Only those with physical and mental disabilities are exempted. The Israel Defense Forces have roughly equal proportions of women and men.
