PULPALLY: The locals could not believe that Sivadas is the accused in the murder case of his son. Amal Das (22), son of Sivadas of Kalluvayal Kathavakkunnu Thekkekkara was killed after hitting him on his head with an axe. He was hit from behind while talking to his sister Kavya on the phone. Sivadas’ wife Sarojini is working as a house maid in Goa. She had reached home the other day. There were regular fights at home regarding her work in Goa. Following that, Sarojini and her daughter were staying at her house in Mullankolly.

Sivadas did not allow his son Amal to call his own mother and sister. Kavya while talking with her brother at 7 am yesterday, got suspicious after hearing her brother's cry and called the neighbours to find out what happened. When they came, they saw Amal lying dead on the bed. The axe used for the murder was found lying in the yard. A complaint is pending at the Pulpally police station in connection with a family dispute. Though Sivasas fled after the incident, he was caught in the evening.

Bathery DySP Abdul Sharif, Pulpally circle inspector Ananthakrishnan and sub inspector Manoj are leading the investigation. Forensic and dog squad experts reached the spot and examined the place. Amal’s body has been taken to the medical college for post-mortem after the inquest proceedings. There were differences of opinion between Sivadas and his family members for quite some time.
