TEL AVIV: Islamist militant group Hamas has released a video showing a statement from one of the captives seized in last week's devastating attack on Israel. The video shows a 21-year-old woman named Mia Schem who has been held hostage by Hamas.
Hamas took about 199 Israeli hostages on the first day of the war.

Mia had sustained a serious injury on her arm during the attack. In the video, Mia can be seen undergoing treatment by an unidentified medical worker. She can also be heard saying that she wants to be returned to her family as quickly as possible.
The woman said that she is receiving the necessary treatment and that she underwent surgery after her injury. Mia is a native of Shoham in Israel.

At least 199 Israelis and foreigners were seized by Hamas gunmen and taken captive in the attack, which killed 1,300 people, the largest number of dead in a single day in Israel's 75-year history.

The Israeli military issued a statement, saying it was in constant touch with Schem's family and condemning Hamas as a "murderous terrorist organization". It said it was using "all intelligence and operational measures" for the return of the captives.
