ABU DHABI: In a recurring scenario, an earthquake struck Iran for the third time on Tuesday while a quaver of small magnitude was also felt in UAE. The National Center of Metrology (NCM) said that light tremors were felt in northern UAE. However, no casualties were reported in the calamity.

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in Iran around 12.22 pm UAE local time. This is the third earthquake to befall Iran on Tuesday alone. An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 at 9.10 am and magnitude 5.5 at 8.59 am was earlier recorded in the country.

A slight earthquake of magnitude 3.1 was felt in the national capital region of New Delhi on Sunday. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of ten kilometres below the earth's crust, and was at a place, nine kilometres away from Faridabad.

A strong earthquake struck Herat in western Afghanistan just after midnoon time on October 7. It is reported that more than 4,000 people have died in the two earthquakes of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale. The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority has informed that around 2,000 houses have been completely destroyed.

During last August, earthquakes were felt in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. A magnitude of 5.8 intensity was recorded. The epicenter was found to be in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The National Center for Seismology reported that it originated 181 km deep inside the Earth.
