PALAKKAD: A village field assistant has been arrested by vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 1000.BM Kumar, village field assistant of Tharoor 1 village office in Palakkad district, was arrested. The complainant, a native of Kuruthithodu in Palakkad district, had applied to the Tharoor 1 village office on September 29 to issue thandaper.
The village officer and village field assistant Kumar conducted a site inspection on the 11th of this month. On the day of the inspection, the village field assistant took a bribe of Rs 500 and asked him to pay another Rs 1000 when he came to the office to collect the certificate. Then yesterday, when he went to the village office to collect the certificate, he was asked to come the following day with one thousand rupees
Subsequently, the complainant reported this information to Palakkad Vigilance Deputy Superintendent of Police Shamsuddin. Upon receiving the information vigilance team reached the village office around 4 o'clock today and arrested the accused. The accused will be produced before the Thrissur Vigilance Court.
