PALAKKAD: K T Uwaiz, a college student is on cloud nine after he became the owner of a 58-employee IT firm with the success of 'Necttos', an app developed to record student and teacher attendance.

"Necttos" app was developed by Uwaiz, a second-year M.Com student at Ottapalam AMC Group of Institutions. Now, almost 20 colleges are using the app after news spread like wildfire about the app's success. Colleges under Kerala University, MG and Calicut University are beneficiaries of the app.

Calicut University Startup App Incubation Center has also approved ‘Necttos’. The attendance detail is taken on teachers’ smartphones. The same details of attendance will also reach the students through smartphones. Entrance examination details can also be acquired through this app.

Uwaiz felt the need for such an application, while he took a temporary job in college as a system administrator after graduation. Uwaiz, a computer technology graduate, had the know-how about the arduous work required to create the app and gave it a try. Uwaiz registered the app with Kerala Startup Mission. The idea was also presented in the startup ecosystem of the university. The initiative was launched in 2021. Twenty-six-year-old Uwaiz is the eighth of the nine children of the Abubakar Fatima couple.
