KOCHI: Arrested CPM leader PR Aravindakshan told the court that the ED is hunting CPM leaders in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank fraud case and that there is no evidence against him. Aravindakshan's argument is in the bail application filed in the special court in Ernakulam.
However, the ED stated that if Arvindakshan is granted bail, it will affect the investigation of the accused in the case related to Peringandoor Bank.
Aravindakshan said that the ED threatened him and tortured him mentally in the name of questioning. 'ED insisted on saying that the money was deposited in the account in my mother's name. They are making false allegations without verifying the information given by the Peringandur bank secretary' Aravindakshan added.
50 lakh transaction fraud
46.20 lakh rupees in 2016 and 40 lakh rupees in three instalments in 2017 have reached the Wadakkanchery SBI account in the name of Aravindakshan. The source is being investigated. 50 lakh transaction in Aravindakshan's Karuvannoor Bank account is evidence of fraud. The Peringandur bank secretary did not cooperate with the probe. The information of those who shared the amount frauded by former accountant CK Jills of Karuvannur Bank has not been fully received. ED also said that the accused are not cooperating with the investigation. Arvindakshan's and Jills's bail application was then adjourned to 19 for further hearing.
