THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited asked for 338.61 crores for the infrastructure development of Vizhinjam International Port, the government sanctioned only 16.25 crores.

Construction of enclosure:1 Crore
Project-related studies: 50 Lakhs
Preparation of DPR for Seafood Park: 2 Crore
Administrative and Legal Expenses-Technical Advice: 6 Crore
Arbitration Fee: 5 Crore
Website Design: 5 lakhs
Establishment of PR cell: 1.50 crores

16.25 crores was sanctioned for the above-mentioned requirements. The position of the Seaport Limited authorities is that the amount is insufficient.

Vizhinjam Seaport Limited MD sent a letter to the government requesting the amount on April 28, 2023. A decision was taken in a high-powered meeting chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department on June 24 to allocate Rs 16.25 crore. An order was issued to sanction the amount on July 10. Meanwhile, the government has spent Rs 67.55 lakh for the reception ceremony for the first ship.
