THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The non-inclusion of higher secondary teachers in QIP meetings and curriculum committees has been seen as disrupting the rhythm of curricular and extra-curricular activities. Teachers say that the government is not considering the demand to include it higher secondary in the committees.

Higher secondary teachers are informed after the QIP meetings take decisions. The sports fairs, which were conducted between the Higher Secondary Improvement Examinations are a result of lack of coordination. Many of the children who participated in the sports fair could not appear in the improvement examination. Higher secondary teachers make a compulsory contribution of Rs 400 to Rs 700 for the conduct of sports fairs, and sports fairs and science festivals. However, higher secondary teachers are given nominal participation in the organization of fairs.

The higher secondary section also provides the highest collection of children for arts festivals, sports fairs and science fairs. Rs 42 is included in student fees and Rs 60 is allocated as a special contribution for fairs.
