THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The capital district has received one and a half times more rain this time than it usually receives in the first two weeks of north east monsoon, which is is a record. From October 1st to 17th, 353 mm of rain was received, that is 141% more. Districts except Thrissur also received good rain. In Thrissur it has decreased by 22 percent. Besides Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta received 76%, Kollam 27% and Alappuzha 28%. It is predicted that the monsoon will intensify in the state in the coming days.
Thunder and wind today
The Meteorological Department has informed that strong winds and thundershowers will occur in the state today with the formation of two cyclones in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The sea will be rough. Isolated rain is also possible. . There is no alert today in any district. The cyclonic ciruculation is over the Andaman in the southeast Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. It will move towards north-west direction and increase in strength by October 21. Due to this, rain may be heavy in the state.
