NEDUMANGAD: The body of an old lady who went missing in the Karamana River a few days ago was found in Aruvikkara Dam on Wednesday. The deceased is Thirumala native Pushpa Kumari (67). Her relatives have identified the body.
The body was found near the bridge of Aruvikkara Dam. Two days ago, the youths who had gone to catch fish in the Karamana River told the Aryanad police that they saw a woman's body being washed away by the river. Although the Aryanad police, fire force and scuba team conducted a search in the river, they could not find the body. The body was found in Aruvikkara yesterday about 10 km away from the place where the youth found the body.
Pushpa Kumari is a native of Aryanad. Her husband's home is in Thirumala. Pushpa Kumari, who used to visit the Arandeshwaram Shiva Temple, left her house in Vattiyoorkavu after leaving behind all her ornaments in a cover.
The police concluded the woman committed suicide by jumping into the river. The body was handed over to her relatives after post-mortem. Husband: Shivankutty. Children: Gopan, Suma.
